O ye'll tae the high road and I'll tae the high road!!

Honored Chair, Fellow Delagates.....

Well after months of waiting, a week of crazy intenseness, a new found sense of Scottish nationalism, the Game (i lost) and just in general good, good good times, i want to say that i could not have hoped for a better group of people to be with at WorldMUN.

From Mike with YITAHHHH, Mel and the duvet Monster, and Lars wanting to kill people so hard they die the year before, we all acted like fucking nutters and i loved every second.

I know that most of us feel that the committee sessions were kinda crappy and that we wos robbed from awards, but looking back, we ALL made big impacts in the sessions and have spread the word about EdMUN and ScotMUN and shown the MUN comminity that we are a force to reckoned with and you guys should all be so so so so happy with how much effort you put in.

To Shay, Christin & Delancy again, congratulations for winning awards, you guys were amazing and considering we had to contend against a massive, loud and cocky Venezualan group and veterns from West Point, Lahore & Belgium makes your awards all the more impressive.

But just spending time with each of you guys in groups or just one on one was awesome. In particular, Mel, you were a total legend, with infinate energy and patience, telling me to calm down when i was stressed in committee to actually going around to EVERY SINGLE DELGATION lobbying little Rwandas points and writing a staggering about of notes! Thank you.

Anwyay im ranting (as an self respecting italian shall) so i will just again say that if couldnt have asked for a better group of friends to spend a week with and only wish that we could do it all over again.

In true ScotMUN fashion, you guys are DOUBLE DOUBLE NICE!!!!!!

have a great easter and all the very best with your exams and work over the next few weeks

The Secret Diary of Moshe Dayan, Aged 63 1/4

Moshe Dayan

Hi guys, I thought I'd get the ball rolling here, by putting up a short post.

[ed: now seems to be rather longer than expected...]

This conference was for me, vying with the ScotMUN committee a couple of weeks ago, the most fun committee I've ever been on - being on a small committee is like a completely different game from being on a large committee, so those of you who've only tried one of the possible types of committees, I'd urge you to try all the different types before you leave MUN.
And yes, I did just say 'completely different game'. Like the game you just lost.

A couple of things that spring to mind immediately:
  • After 5 days of intense debate on the Arab-Israeli conflict, and feeling like I've learned so much about international relations, I went down for breakfast on Saturday morning. One of the hotel staff greeted me with
    • "You must be one of the last to leave the Boy Scouts event, right?"
    • "Excuse me?!"
    • "You know, the Boy Scouts event that you have all been attending across the road."
    Gutted.

  • Another thing I learned this week is that the Dutch word for bagpipes is 'doodle sack'. Doodle sack?! Ouch...

Finally, you'll have to bear with me whilst I get a bit mushy here (those of a cold-hearted disposition look away now...)

\BEGIN{MUSHINESS}

This is my first, but sadly also last year at EdMUN, and when I came back to Edinburgh from the States I never really thought I'd get into Model UN back here. But the way that we debate a different topic each week is absolutely brilliant, and I found myself getting sucked in. Even though I had to represent UC Berkeley in order to get on the committee that I wanted, I hope that the amount of time I spent with you guys outside of committee shows where I think the credit for the award goes :-) I only wish I could be on the EdMUN committee next year, but you've got an amazing committee lined up and Hugo, though you've got big shoes to fill, I'm sure you'll take EdMUN even further forward. You had ALL better keep in touch with me...
